Development Collective
We are an informal group who love design, software and technology. Our aim is to use our skills for fun and useful creations that enrich our everyday lives. The Collective is not for profit, but our work is designed to commercially support itself.
Why we have chosen the things we have made
A great idea is a very delicate creature. It is conceived in the mind and takes on life when the inventor is brave enough to share. When choosing which ideas to spend our time on, we look for things that fit these criteria.
- Fit into our everyday lives
- Commercially viable
- Socially positive
If you want to be involved
Every member of the collective is a creative person who has a talent that helps with the creation of products. Whether your skills are artistic, technical or organisational you will be welcomed. However, most important is the ability to think freely and create collaboratively. Please contact us through twitter.
Who we are
The Collective is a loose group of about ten people. At its core are Simon Elliott, Andy Greenshaw and Doug Steel. Between them they have over half a century of designing for the Internet and television. Along the way they have created solutions to deliver next generation connected television experiences, high volume consumer transactional websites and market focused strategies. With an education from Saint Martins and references from the BBC, iTV and chellomedia, Doug leads the award winning creative design teams. Andy is second to none with experience of agile development for mobile and small systems, his work is probably in your living room already. For the Collective, he creates our simple engineering focused approach. Simon brings product design, vision and market skills. His background is in development leadership and architecture and he has created products from new compression algorithms to artificial intelligence and multi player games. There are many more members of the Collective, all with their own unique skills and talents, such as community management, journalism and editorial, web and print design.
We meet regularly so please come and chat with us one evening.
